What’s better than going to the movies? Going to the movies and getting hammered at the same time! And I don’t mean like that time you snuck in a brewski and giggled the entire movie. I mean fine dining, adult beverages, and servers waiting on you hand and foot. Not possible you say? It is at NiteHawk Cinema in Williamsburg! Ever since the triplex cinema opened its doors in 2011 it has been a local and tourist’s favorite. The theaters are small and cozy – one is not more than twenty-six seats, all vintage and recycled – with exemplary first-run and repertory film programming, and specialty dishes and drinks inspired by the films. But what’s really special – and this is where you say “Thank You!” – is that Nite Hawk singlehandedly overturned the prohibition-era New York State liquor law that made serving alcohol in motion picture theaters illegal. “And thus, a new era of boozy film viewing in Brooklyn (and beyond) began!”
