I hadn’t worked in Belgium since my summer jobs as a babysitter slash bartender slash sales assistant. I was a teenager then, but already way too involved in fashion. I was forcing my mom to sew me dresses and pants I designed, and stealing my grandma’s fur collar coats. I got my first pair of vintage platforms when I was about 16, and to this day they are my most memorable buy, because they mark the beginning of an obsession with cool shoes I will never be able to shake. Luckily I found a friend in Jimmy Choo. They flew me to Antwerp – funny to stay in a hotel half an hour from home – as one of the two headlining Stylemakers for Fall/Winter 2012 and followed me through the city as I styled seven outfits with bags and shoes from their 24:7 collection. The other Stylemaker this season was Viviane Volpicalla, who shot her looks in Milan. It rained all day in Antwerp but I can’t remember ever having so much fun shooting!
