Look of the Week by Tommy Ton: G’day Sydney!

I am in Sydney on “official government business”. That’s right! I was flown out here as an International Delegate by Destination New South Wales (i.e. “the government”) to help “promote Sydney as a Fashion Capital”. Pfff, piece of cake! I love the Aussie designers. I’ve worked with so many of them – they’re such a creative bunch. They bring forth some of the most positive, upbeat and integer collections in the world. Really, no need to twist my arm!

I got off the plane at 6.30 AM on Monday and spent the next five days hopping from show to show, flanked by familiar faces like Susie Bubble, BryanBoy, Phil Oh, Candice Lake and Tommy Ton. Everyone was on their best behavior; the sun was shining and the views were breathtaking. There was a lot of good summer stuff on the MBFWA Sydney runways but Ellery topped the charts for me. I gasped a few times when those looks were coming out. Constructed shorts, cute mouse ear head bands, black on white botanical prints, color block pant suits, it was all very Joosy!

And hence, the focus of this Week’s Look: a printed, draped dress with silver wrap skirt and silver mouse ears by Ellery, paired with a matching silver bag and gunmetal bracelets by Benah, Ksubi sunglasses, my favorite Pierre Hardy shoes, and an Australian hat I got on Bondai Beach.
