The Saint Laurent movement is quite authorative these days. Last year I’d have stunted any attempt at justifying the catastrophic overhaul at YSL, but today I am jumping on the bandwagon. That whole 60s mod thing is my thing. I am so on board I can no longer boycott Hedi. I can walk past the store without having to cross the street, and I allow myself to idolize the shoes. The good thing though is that I don’t have to spend thousands of dollars to look like a Saint Laurent girl, and I wouldn’t. Because I’ve got all the original vintage dresses right here in my closet.
Like an overgrown teenager, I spent my Saturday morning ripping out the pages of Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar looking for summer inspiration. (The idea is always to collect all the cut-outs and eventually make a collage, but by the time I sit down to make it, the season is over and I must start all over again. Rough.) Yesterday I came across a pretty dress by Saint Laurent in the new Nordstrom catalog. And it made me think of this floral little vintage dress I’ve had for ages. And those yellow shoes I bought a couple of years ago. It was the perfect time to dust ’em off and try again. And once more this mini blog post made my case to shop and hoard vintage, because everything old, becomes new again…
My floral vintage dress and 60s shoes; Navy blue tights by Fogal; Vintage white fur earmuffs, $98 at Gypsy Nation Vintage.

I used to do that too – I couldn’t afford the dresses in Vogue so I used to trawl the vintage shops to get the look – still do the vintage version of the trends.
Vintage is always a good way to go!

Am off to the YSL film opening next…think I go something like this….finely pleated black cape, black bellbottoms, black bowler hat….and fake diamonds. You know, sort of Emma Peel meets YSL!!!!!!!!

I have been really enjoying your wonderfull posts for a long time now, but I really got a jolt of shock (and great delight) when I saw the earmuffs! They look so cute on you – but the thing that got me was that I had just posted an illustration entitled “dani’s lucky earmuffs” on Facebook yesterday. I’m telling you Natalie… Those things really are lucky! Just wear them around a while an you’ll find out what I’m talking about! Great post… Love this new collection!
you look fantastic!
