A lot has been said and written about Lynn Wyatt. She’s 80 after all, and (still!) leading a more-than-public life as a flashy Houstonian Socialite. Some call her La Lynn, because “with all due respect to Beyonce, it could be argued that Lynn Wyatt is Houston’s reigning style queen.” Her mansion in River Oaks was dubbed the Wyatt Hyatt at the time of the oil boom in the 70s and 80s because it hosted notables like Princess Grace of Monaco, Mick Jagger and Elton John. She was painted by Andy Warhol and appeared in the pages of Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and Town and Country. She hosted, chaired and contributed to dozens of  charities and balls and got awarded some crazy prestigious titles, the funniest one perhaps “a Cadillac Texas Legend” by KHOU/Channel 11.

And she loved clothes. Adored them! She was introduced to the world of Couture by her husband Oscar – he treated her to a Chanel suit and evening gown during a trip to Paris – and got fascinated. She would become a staple in the front rows of just about every couturier and became close friends with everyone from Karl Lagerfeld to Jean Paul Gaultier. She was inducted into the International Best Dressed List Hall of Fame in 1977. When Vogue asked her in 2014 about her style philosophy she answered: “Class with a bit of dash and never trash”.

And now she’s selling a few of her beloved pieces, 37 to be exact, donated by herself and friends, to benefit the Rothko Chapel, a nondenominational place of worship founded and created by the artist Mark Rothko to be a center of contemplation and a foundation for human rights in Houston, Texas. So if you never got that desirable invite to the Wyatt mansion, this may be your last chance to own a piece of the legend.
