Happy Anniversary Alber!

Last night’s Lanvin show was epic. The first few girls stomped out in strong dresses in bright primaries, like color blocks, followed by a fast paced brigade of typical and not-so-typical Lanvin looks. It seemed like a girl was sent out on the runway every 5 seconds. You couldn’t keep your eyes locked on one at a time. It was like I was sitting in the train station listening to hard techno on my Ipod, watching a tirade of hot travelers rush by. And then Aymeline came out in a black dress with white ruffles and red leather gloves and red shoes, looking around the audience, with a startled, challenging look on her face, as if she was looking for her cheating husband. I died.

But the after party is what beat all the other shows right out the water. It was Alber Elbaz’ 10th year at Lanvin and the bash was over the top. After the finale Alber got on stage and sang “Que sera, sera” in front of what seemed like an audience of a thousand spectators. Then the curtains opened and everyone was ushered into the backstage area which was transformed in an enormous ballroom with a live band from Oregon, tables full of delicious desserts and a gigantic collage of photos from the anniversary book. After a few champagnes all the fashion people were on their feet dancing and singing Alber’s birthday song. The cake was magnificent! Watch the little video I made of the “moment supreme”.
